LAB

Effective
http://twitter.com/#!/Seneca_College- Seneca’s twitter page is constantly updated with Seneca events, opportunities and information.  It has over 3000 followers growing by the day and is very connected with their peers by shouting out students who have received awards and posting videos and pictures of Seneca students work and events.
http://www.facebook.com/#!/humbercollege- Humber College’s facebook page is very active and has over 15,000 likes. Many students post discussions and questions about the college on the site, and the administrator is effective in answering the questions. Overall it is a very involved facebook page including posts, photos, videos, discussions, links and excessive information.
http://www.facebook.com/#!/georgebrowncollege - with over 8 thousand likes and an extensively informative page George Browns Facebook page is highly effective. It includes recent events, flyers, course choices, view books, discussions and is regularly updated. Students are also actively involved in the website. It also offers videos, photos, discussions and information on all courses, extracurricular activates and awards.

Not Effective
http://twitter.com/#!/HumberHR - Though Humber College updates at least once every week, their followers are only at 300. The page does not offer a lot of information and tweets are only regarding job postings.
http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Seneca-College/107674175922664 - Seneca’s facebook page provides information about the campus and allows students to post on the wall, though it does not post themselves regarding Seneca events or important dates.  This would create more of a community among students and allow them to view any extracurricular activities or scholarships and bursaries Seneca has to offer.
http://twitter.com/#!/GBcollege - GeorgeBrowns twitter page is non effective and only includes 1 tweet. No logo or picture is included in their profile and it only attached a link to the website. Somehow it still has 500 followers, but no updates.

MARK3030 Week 2 Assignment

Modelmayhem.com

This website was specifically designed for the purposes of networking in the fashion/modeling industry. Models, photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists can register for the website in order to find and create opportunities between each other.

The Good

This website is effective due to two core reasons. It allows members to create a free online portfolio for others to view in order to market themselves or create business opportunities with other members. Registered users can provide contact information along with their portfolios to be reached as well as connect with them through ModelMayhem by using the virtual "wall" or MM mail.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/1462821

Another reason why this website is very effective is due to the castings section. Members are able to post casting calls on the websites "castings" section which enables users to look for work or hire someone.

The Bad

ModelMayhem does not give you the opportunity to use all your social media outlets together. Though there is a way to link your Photobucket account with ModelMayhem, it does not allow you to link your profile to other social networking websites such as Facebook or Youtube.

Another problem is ModelMayhems visual appeal and specs.Since the website is mainly positioned towards the fashion industry, photography and appearance should be an important factor for the website. Though it offers members to post an online portfolio, picture quality is not up to par and photographs are skewed once uploaded. ModelMayhem should allow members to post original sized pictures to evoke the best visual appeal from a photograph.
